The Easton ST16 hockey shin guard is the premier pad in Easton's ST line. The ST16 offers an advanced level of protection to accomadate players with high demands from their pads.
This pad has six air vent holes in the front shin. Easton has placed metal screens over these holes. This is more of a cosmetic feature, but it does give the pads a nice look to them. The covered knee cap adds to the look too.
Easton has done a great job at placing HDPE plastics in the calf wrap, a high thigh protector, and outer knee guard to offer additional protection to the pad. The thigh protector is adjustable, allowing the player to costumize the height it extends from the knee. This is especially nice for ice players to costumize the fit to work seemlessly with their ice pants, and avoid the ice pant getting caught on the top of the shin pad.
Easton has given this pad a monster 4" neoprene strap across the calf that comfortably locks the pad in place. This strap is a neoprene core with almost a felt like exterior that offers a soft feel. Along with this strap there is a removable nylon strap below the knee. Not the most comfortable strap, but it is removable making it great for the players that use tape to secure the pads.
