The S3 shoulder pads are perfect for just learning the game or light contact recreational leagues. The majority of the protection on the chest and back is single density foam. Easton has used some thin plastic inserts in the sternum and spine. The S3 features a single density foam rib wrap which is nice to see at this level of pad. Easton has used some thick plastic shoulder caps offer solid protection, along with molded plastic bicep guards.

Easton has used what they are calling a 3-piece chest to provide increase mobility without compromising protection. The attachment points on the 3-piece chest panel are sewn so it does not allow for as much mobility as it would be with elastic attachments.

Bottom line the Easton S3 shoulder pads are nice simple lightweight pads that offer great protection for entry to recreational level of play.
