New to the 1S is the C-Flex tendon guard that took years to perfect. It has removable inserts that attach in back that allow players to customize the amount of resistance it offers, which can also be fully removed for one of the of the best range of motion on the market.

The 1S skate comes with the "mid" stiffener pre-installed, but it can be easily removed for maximum mobility. For a more traditional and stiff feel, the "stiff" insert can be used for more resistance. To put things in perspective, the "mid" stiffener offers more range of motion than the MX3's Free Flex Tendon guard, while not using a stiffener completely blows it out of the water.

Bauer did away with the low-profile tongue that had been in the MX3 and the APX, going with a much more traditional while 52 oz and 40 oz white felt. C-Flex Technology is also featured on top of the tongue, again providing customization options for players. There "mid" Curv Composite insert provides plenty of resistance that can be felt at the end of the stride, "springing back" the foot at the end of the toe snap process. The "stiff" inserts enhance this sensation and is easily swapped out for the "mid" insert.

First debuting on the Vapor 1X, the Supreme 1S utilizes Curv Composite Ankle Support rather than injected plastic like the MX3. This lightens the skate, increases stiffness and allows for a better wrap during the baking process. The 3D-lasted Titanium Curv quarter package provides second to none stiffness and responsiveness, not to mention the anatomically correct boot shape that closely hugs all of the curves of the foot. Internally, the new 37.5 polyester liner dries 5 times faster than traditional materials, which is a very noticeable feature, especially for heavy sweaters. It also has durability patches inside that are strategically located in the high-wear areas. Bauer's signature Comfort Edge Wraps enhance comfort and alleviate high ankle abrasion, which is a common occurrence for such stiff skates.
