Figure skates developed for figure skating

Figure skating is a sport that combines dance or ballet with skating. Therefore, figure skating also very often has a more elegant and stylish expression than the more ordinary skates. You may have seen professional figure skating races where the participants are dressed in flashy and colorful costumes. However, very few of us jump in such a costume when we go down to the skating rink - and then it can be nice with some slightly more neutral figure skating.

Figure skates are usually made of artificial leather, which is a lighter material than real leather. The boot often has a relatively high profile, and then the skates must be fastened with laces instead of buckles. If you want to do tricks with your figure skates, it is important that the skates are light and have a good fit, as it helps to ensure good stability. Another clear characteristic of figure skates is that they are equipped with a steel blade which has "toe-notches" - ie. grooves at the front of the steel blade, which ensures a good starting point when you have to make jumps and jumps during figure skating. The steel blade is usually also longer, which contributes to increased stability.

Figure skating for everyday skating

Whether you actually practice the sport of figure skating, or you just want to find some great skates that you can take down to the skating rink or to the lake when there is winter frost, figure skating and classic skating are the most obvious choices. Here, the ice hockey skates are a little too massive, for the simpler and more elegant kind of skating.
